Drivers who obtained their licence prior to 2008/2009 were afforded acquired rights, that gave them an additional five years to complete there CPC training. In 2014, all commercial drivers now on the road were expected to have a valid CPC card. New drivers who completed the initial CPC qualification are presented with a CPC card demonstrating they have met their legal requirements. That card is vaild for five years.
Now, all LGV / HGV drivers who drive professionally require, by law to have accomplished 35 hours of Authorised Driver CPC training on or earlier than the 9th of September 2019. This training carries on through your driving profession, regardless of how frequently you drive. It requires that you complete 35 hours of Authorised training every 5 years, from the date your licence begins.
